Biography
"A man's work is nothing but this slow trek to
rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and
simple images in whose presence his heart first opened."
Albert Camus
Born in 1972, Gordon Dickson grew up in Corby, Northamptonshire in the East Midlands of England. Leaving Beanfield School in 1990 with a fistful of GCSE's and A levels, it is still a topic of much debate whether he faired better than his alma mater which was demolished in the early years of the 21st Century.
Moving south to study Philosophy and Classical Civilizations in North London, Gordon took an extra year to finish his degree, so much did he enjoy hanging out in Camden during the early Nineties.
After a summer of signing-on in his hometown, Gordon moved to Glasgow in autumn 1994 and has worked for many of Scotland's leading arts organizations - Glasgow Film Theatre, Citizens Theatre, 7:84 Theatre Company Scotland, Queen Margaret University and Playwrights' Studio, Scotland.
Gordon began 2007 by freelancing as an Administrative Producer and Fundraiser, firstly with Toonspeak Young People's Theatre and then with Reeling & Writhing. In September Gordon joined the inaugural Ozbus overland trips to Australia visiting 20 countries in three months.
From May 2008 Gordon has been working at Street Level Photoworks.
Gordon Dickson is a member of Queen's Park Football Club.
